I've long been an admirer of the Emile Henry settings and coffee mugs. I bought some in red last year and have been very pleased. The color is rich--which was part of my criteria, and the actual ceramic is high quality and not the porous junk that easily wears down and breaks. These are slightly heavy duty with elegance. Love them! My only gripe was that the ones I ordered had tiny variations in the glaze. Not in the overall color from cup to cup, but there were a few small dark spots and I wondered if the particular seller that I had bought them from was selling higher quality seconds, since I hadn't noticed these variations in the in-store cups I had seen. At anyrate, I like idiosyncracies, so I was fine with that, but if that would irritate, you might want to consult with the seller first.

Ideal for coffee, tea, and soup, the four 15-ounce mugs in this set are a traditional French shape and have smooth exteriors that make them welcome in contemporary kitchens. They go into the microwave and through the dishwasher without harm to their glossy, lead-free glaze, which does not absorb odors or moisture and is so hard it will not crack, craze, discolor, or scratch. They measure 3-3/4 inches high.Since 1850, Emile Henry cookware and bakeware have been made in Burgundy, where a unique clay is kiln-fired into a ceramic unsurpassed for conducting and retaining heat.
