Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Emile Henry Couleurs Red Gratinee Bowls, Set of 2Customer Review: Great bowls Summary: 5 Stars
I have looked at these for years but never bit. What a waste. I absolutely love them. They seem to be the bowls I reach for always now. They are great additions to my Emile Henry collection.
Description of Emile Henry Couleurs Red Gratinee Bowls, Set of 2Ideal for onion soup with browned cheese on top or for baking pot pies, these two 16-ounce gratinée bowls are a traditional French shape and have smooth exteriors that makes them welcome in contemporary kitchens. They can go directly from freezer to oven, into the microwave, under the broiler, and through the dishwasher without harming their glossy, lead-free glaze, which does not absorb odors or moisture and is so hard it will not crack, discolor, or scratch--even if food is cut on it. They measure 5-1/2 inches in diameter and 2-1/2 inches high and have handles to keep thumbs out of the soup. Since 1850, Emile Henry cookware and bakeware have been made in Burgundy, where a unique clay is kiln-fired into a ceramic unsurpassed for conducting and retaining heat. Prized worldwide, Emile Henry products come in a wide range of colors, from the earth tones (with creamy interiors) of the rustic Le Potier line to the bright hues (with white interiors) of the Couleurs line, of which these all-white bowls are gleaming examples. Each piece is stamped with the year it was made and the initials of the craftsman responsible for its perfection and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack
